Porsche 924 Carrera GTS

The Porsche 924 GTS is the Ultimate road legal 924, only 59 were made and 15 of these were in clubsport specification. All were finished in Red and were LHD. The GTS was fitted with poly wings (fenders), bumpers and light weight aluminium doors and bonnet. It was fitted with a thinner bonded in glass windscreen, plexiglass side windows and rear hatch. Perspex fixed headlights to give extra space under the bonnet for the larger front mounted intercooler. 120 litre fuel tank and revised rear suspension of coil spring set up instead of torsion bars. Brakes were as those fitted to the 911 Turbo of the period but with cross drilled vented discs. 40% Limited slip differential.

The interior consists of lightweight sports seats which were felt covered 935 racing seats, door panels and no rear seat, with the bare minimum of equipment.

The engine runs a higher level of boost than the Carrera GT as it has a larger front mounted intercooler. 245 BHP at 1 bar with a compression ratio of 8.0:1

0-62 mph was covered in 6.2 seconds with a maximum speed of over 155 mph

The price new was £24,000 which was quite a sum if you consider the standard 924 of the period sold for £9,000.

Club Sport

The Club Sport cars had no underbody protection, an aluminium roll over bar, Halon fire extinguisher. The engine was boosted to 280 BHP at 1.1 bar with the aid of a larger front mounted Intercooler.

0-62 mph was covered in 5.2 seconds with a maximum speed of over 160 mph

The price new was £31,500 which was quite a sum if you consider the standard 924 of the period sold for £9,000.
